π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ Family reunification has always been a cornerstone of Canada’s immigration system, reflecting the nationβs commitment to bringing loved ones together. The Parents and Grandparents (PGP) Program allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents and grandparents for permanent residency. As we step into 2025, there are pivotal updates that prospective sponsors should be aware of. Zee Overseas Immigration is here to guide you through the process!
π’ 2025 Application Intake
β
This year, IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) aims to accept up to 10,000 complete applications under the PGP Program.
β
Instead of opening a new interest-to-sponsor intake, IRCC will send invitations to apply to randomly selected potential sponsors from the existing 2020 submission pool.
β
This lottery-based selection method is the same process used from 2020 to 2024.
At Zee Overseas Immigration, we help guide you through every step of the process to make sure your application is ready when the invitation comes!
β³ Processing Times for PGP Applications
π As of February 5, 2025, the estimated processing times are:
π Outside Quebec: β³ 24 months
π Quebec Applicants: β³ 48 months (due to Quebecβs limited family class admissions)
βοΈ Balancing Applications & Immigration Targets
π Due to recent adjustments in Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan (2025β2027), IRCC is carefully managing application intake to keep wait times reasonable. The reduced immigration targets mean that fewer applications will be processed compared to previous years.
At Zee Overseas Immigration, we keep a close eye on these updates so we can provide the most up-to-date advice and ensure you meet all necessary requirements!
βοΈ Super Visa: A Great Alternative!
If you’re looking for faster family reunification, the Super Visa is a great option!
β
Multiple-entry visa for up to 10 years
β
Stay up to 5 years per visit (with possible extensions)
β
Easier and quicker process compared to PGP
At Zee Overseas Immigration, we can assist with the Super Visa application process to ensure your loved ones can visit and stay longer in Canada.
π₯ New Super Visa Insurance Update!
π As of January 28, 2025, Super Visa applicants can now purchase health insurance from international providers (not just Canadian companies). This enhances affordability and gives more flexibility to applicants.
π Looking Ahead
IRCC acknowledges that some families may not receive an invitation due to the reliance on the 2020 submission pool. More details on the 2025 PGP intake timeline will be announced soon.
π¨π¦ Canada remains committed to family reunificationβwhether through the PGP Program or the Super Visa, there are options to bring your loved ones closer! π
