Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) ETA:

Citizens of few countries are exempt from the requirement to obtain a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). For these individuals, the government of Canada has introduced what is known as electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).

This is to ensure systematically screening of individuals from visa exempt countries for admissibility and other crucial checks. The new eTA system aims to provide worry less travel for such individuals by completing an online form before departure.

Note: The eTA is now compuslory for those citizens do not require a TRV who are entering Canada by air. Exceptions to this include citizens of the United States, who do not require a TRV or an electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), and Green Card holders in the United States, who need an eTA to come to Canada, regardless of their nationality.

Visitor Visa for Visit or Tourism Purpose:

It is one of the temporary resident visa issued to visit Canada on a temporary basis for the tourism purpose and then the person would return back to their home country.

How long you can stay?

Most visitors can stay for up to 6 months in Canada. At the port of entry, the border services officer may allow you to stay for less or more than 6 months. If so, they’ll put the date you need to leave by in your passport. They might also give you a document, called a visitor record, which will show the date you need to leave by.

If you don’t get a stamp in your passport, you can stay for 6 months from the day you entered Canada or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. If you need a stamp, you can ask a border services officer for one. If you arrive at an airport that uses primary inspection kiosks, ask the border officer after you finish at the kiosk.

Requirements for Visitor Visa (Tourism) for Canada:
